programs and seminars where communities are educated and
trained on the following 5 thematic areas;
II.
Civil and political rights
Since 2006 the CRD has conducted several workshops in Rural
Manicaland aimed at educating the communities on their civil
and political rights. This is done against a background
of sporadic episodes of political violence that have characterized
politics of the day. Our civic education programme teaches
communities on their political and civil rights and urging
them to stand up for their rights. We also promote tolerance,
non-discrimination on the basis of political affiliation
and gender, de-politicization of traditional leadership
structures and inclusion of rural women and youths in public
policy making leading to peaceful coexistence. This aimed
at creating an environment where people can exercise their
rights without fear.
